You can become an expert quickly and help rid yourself of many of the issues that cause back pain. The Plank is the answer! The plank helps develop strength in the core, shoulders, arms, and glutes” Says Dr. Tom. Making it the perfect exercise to fight back pain. Even though you aren’t moving or lifting weight, you have to constantly squeeze your abs to hold the position. Most people can’t last 30 seconds. “Get to 5 minutes in the plank and your days of lower back pain will likely be gone.” Says Dr. Tom. Practice: Perform planks several times each day trying to hold the position longer each time. If you don’t have the core strength to do a regular plank try a modified bent-knee plank until you have built your strength up. This happens quickly if you stick to a daily practice.
